Orton-Gillingham (OG) Training
The Howard School will once again offer Orton-Gillingham (OG) training at the end of July 2025. Christi Kubeck FIT/OGA, Lower School Literacy Specialist at Howard, will lead the training.
All training will be held on The Howard School campus, located at 1192 Foster Street in NW Atlanta, GA 30318

Course Offerings
Classroom Educator Level | Course Fee: $950
July 14-18 • 8 am - 3 pm
Participants will receive intense instruction on reading development, atypical/typical brains, phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and effective strategies for dyslexic learners. Additionally, the course includes the effective and innovative use of technology to support the Orton-Gillingham approach. This course is a total of 35 hours consisting of 30 hours in person and 5 hours of asynchronous work.
Associate Level | Course Fee: $1,900
July 14-25 • 8 am - 3 pm
The Associate Level course is intended for those working with struggling readers of any age in a small group or in a one on one setting. In this course, participants analyze data/assessment, develop a student profile for a struggling reader, and design/deliver an individualized lesson plan implementing the Orton-Gillingham principles. Completing this in-depth coursework (70 hours in person and 5 asynchronous) meets the Associate Level coursework requirements developed by the Orton-Gillingham Academy (OGA).
