The state of Georgia offers a 100% income tax credit in exchange for contributions made to Howard, and other independent schools, through student scholarship organizations. Howard has partnered with Georgia GOAL, the state’s leading SSO, to administer this scholarship program. This program allows Georgia taxpayers to redirect a portion of their owed income tax directly to financial aid funding at The Howard School.

How the program works:
A friend of The Howard School makes a donation to our partner SSO, Georgia GOAL, designating Howard as their recipient, in exchange for a dollar-for-dollar tax credit. That donation, in turn, becomes a partial grant for a student to attend Howard.

About the tax credit:
Georgia has set aside $120 million in tax credits to taxpayers interested in participating in this program. Applications to GOAL must be pre-approved by the Georgia Department of Revenue ("DOR"). This simply means that the DOR sets aside a certain amount of the available tax credits specifically for the respective taxpayer and school.

The maximum allowed redirections by filing status are:
Single filers: $2,500
Married filing jointly: $5,000
Pass-through business owners: $25,000

Applications to redirect your tax dollars for a 2025 tax credit are available now through Georgia GOAL.
