Financial Assistance 23-24

The mission of The Howard School is to educate children with language learning disabilities and differences. A Howard School education is an excellent investment in your child’s future however, we understand the sacrifices families make to send their child to our school, and tuition may represent an expense beyond the reach for some. A limited amount of need-based financial aid is available to enrolled families who apply and meet the school's criteria.

All financial aid decisions are made based on financial need without regard to student's race, color, religion, ethnicity, or national origin. The Howard School relies on the truthfulness of the information provided in each application, and families who apply acknowledge their continuing obligation to notify the school if financial circumstances improve.

Financial aid is intended to support families who have already accessed other outside sources of income. Those income sources may include grandparents, other family members, and employment of all parents/guardians. Assets of custodial parents/guardians will be considered and an award will not be bound by the statement that one parent/guardian has denied, legally or otherwise, any responsibility for educational expenses. If either parent/guardian has remarried, the committee will also consider the income and assets of the step-parent, as well.

Financial Aid Procedures

To help us determine what a family is able to contribute to their child’s education, The Howard School utilizes FACTS Grant & Aid as a trusted third party. Additionally, the financial aid committee will take into account unexpected family financial situations, the need of our entire applicant pool, and the availability of funds.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EARLY TAX RETURN PREPARATION WILL BE NEEDED IN ORDER TO MEET THE FINANCIAL AID DEADLINE OF MARCH 3, 2023.

To be considered for financial assistance for the 2023/24 school year, submission of all financial aid documents from all custodial, non-custodial, and step-parents (including uploaded 2022 Federal Tax Returns, all supporting schedules and forms, and W-2’s or 1099’s) SHOULD BE COMPLETED NO LATER THAN MARCH 3, 2023. AVAILABLE FUNDS ARE LIMITED AFTER THIS DEADLINE HAS PASSED. Since financial aid is granted to students on the basis of need and availability of funds, awards are granted for one year at a time and must be applied for annually.
