The Howard School’s Legacy and Innovation Featured on 11Alive+

The Howard School was recently featured on 11Alive+ News Streaming in an interview with anchor Faith Jessie to highlight the role of the arts in children's brain development, mental health, and learning. Head of School Dr. Anna B. Moore joined the broadcast to discuss our NeuroArts Strategic Sprint for Georgia's NeuroArts Coalition and the school’s legacy as a pioneer in education for students with learning differences across the Atlanta area.

During the segment, Dr. Moore reflected on the foundational vision of The Howard School founder, Marian Howard, and shared how the school continues to evolve to serve students with dyslexia, ADHD, and language-based learning differences. The conversation highlighted The Howard School’s specialized small classroom structures, cutting-edge assistive technology tools, and supportive relationships between teachers and students that empower graduates to thrive.
The news feature also highlighted forward-thinking, arts-based initiatives developed by the artists, researchers, and educators who collaborated in the sprint to help students and neurodivergent thinkers reach their full potential.
"These are a group of people that believe in the transformative power of the arts to bring about wellness, health, social cohesion, and in particular, improved learning outcomes for children who are neurodiverse like those at The Howard School,” said Dr. Moore. “The arts provide a powerful tool for these students to express, engage, and communicate.”
