The Season of Gratitude

November ushers in a season of gratitude, and I want to start with a simple, heartfelt thank you. Every day I see our mission alive, in classrooms where teachers celebrate each student, in hallways where friendships grow, and in the steady confidence our students build as they tackle new challenges and develop lifelong strengths.

Those moments, gathered together, tell the real story of this community. Howard is a unique community, one that is hard to capture in words but is truly felt in person. A couple of weeks ago, we hosted and toured over 50 visitors, from across the globe. The opportunity to see our school, “for the first time”, through the eyes of visitors was an invigorating reminder of how strong our culture is, how compassionate we are, and how dedicated our teachers are. 

Thank you to our extraordinary faculty and staff for transforming the learning experience with skill and care. Thank you to parents and caregivers for your partnership, showing up at conferences, volunteering, cheering on performances and games, and trusting us with your children. And thank you to our students, whose curiosity, humor, and resilience remind us why we do this work.

As we mark our 75th year, I’m especially grateful for the legacy that links past, present, and future Hawks. Your support helps us develop lifelong strengths in every learner and ensures that Howard remains a place where different thinkers thrive. Since 1950, The Howard School has been a place of imagination, determination, and optimism in the face of challenge and complexity. I am so proud to be part of this community. Your children inspire me. I love their wonder, their earnestness, their quickness to forgive, and their perseverance. I think that if the world had more places like The Howard School, it would be a kinder, gentler place.
