Closing the Gap at The Howard School

As we settle into the rhythm of the year, I find myself thinking about the moments that make this community so special - the morning hellos at drop-off, teachers celebrating breakthroughs big and small, older students mentoring younger ones in the classroom and on the courts... Those moments don’t happen by accident; they’re the result of a shared commitment to our mission and to each other. At Howard, we talk often about rekindling student pride and confidence, creating transformative learning experiences, and preparing our students for life beyond our gates. That vision comes alive every day because our community, families, faculty, alumni, and friends, show up with time, talent, and, when possible, treasure.
This month we joyfully kick off our Howard Fund. It isn’t a separate project; it’s the way we sustain the things that matter most right now. Things like our innovative classroom tools and assistive technology, professional learning for teachers, and robust arts and athletics. Tuition alone doesn’t cover the full cost of a Howard education; the Howard Fund closes that gap with immediacy and impact. A gift of any size, truly, moves the needle. Participation sends a powerful message to foundations and partners who ask whether our own community believes in this work. When they see that we believe in all we do and all we stand for, they join us. Did you know that every single employee at The Howard School has contributed to the Howard Fund already this year? Every teacher… every facilities employee… every receptionist… every single adult on our campus who interacts with your child has invested their time and treasure into sustaining this place.
If you’re able, please make your gift early and at a level that feels meaningful for your family. If you’ve already given, thank you for setting the pace. When you contribute to The Howard Fund, you’re helping us celebrate each child and unlock potential every day. I’m grateful to do this work alongside you—let’s make this a year that reflects the very best of The Howard School.
