A different approach MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE

The Howard School is a kindergarten through 12th-grade private school that helps students rediscover the joy of learning. We believe that a child’s potential should never be defined or limited by a label. By pairing a full, robust curriculum with a highly collaborative interdisciplinary team of specialists, we don’t just accommodate language-learning differences—we unlock them. Here, your child’s strengths and passions are celebrated, the educational experience is transformed, and your child will learn skills they will use for a lifetime.

Because the arts allow students to process and communicate ideas in different ways, art and music are often used in cross-curricular lessons to augment learning in other subjects, from math to history.

Hear From Our Community

I enrolled at The Howard School to get help with my learning differences. In the process, I also found something I never expected: the confidence I had always lacked, the freedom to express myself in ways I once thought I didn’t deserve, and the motivation I never imagined I was worthy of. - Sophia L., High School Student

I was noticed as an individual while attending The Howard School. The teachers helped me realize although I learn differently, I can learn at my own pace. - Caroline A., Alumni

Students who try out for school sports often face a series of stressful experiences. First, there is overcoming the self-doubt about signing up for tryouts. Then, there is the intensity of the tryouts themselves. Followed by a nerve-wracking wait for results and scanning the list to see if you made the team.

At The Howard School, we do things differently. Here, every student has the opportunity to play in our inclusive athletics program.

Drama, with its spotlights, lines, costumes and applause, is often seen as a performance. But for neurodiverse students, it can be something much more meaningful. It’s a doorway. A bridge. A space where they are not only seen, but truly heard.

In a world where communication, social interaction, or sensory processing can be daily challenges, drama offers something rare: a safe, expressive outlet.
