The mission of The Howard School is to educate children with language learning disabilities and differences. A Howard School education is an excellent investment in your child’s future however, we understand the sacrifices families make to send their child to our school, and tuition may represent an expense beyond the reach for some. A limited amount of need-based financial aid is available.
Financial Aid Procedures
To help us determine what a family is able to contribute to their child’s education, The Howard School utilizes the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS by NAIS), as a trusted third party. Please know that the SSS analysis is not the only information considered when determining a financial aid award decision. Additionally, the financial aid committee will take into account unexpected family financial situations, the need of our entire applicant pool, and the availability of funds.
PLEASE NOTE THAT EARLY TAX RETURN PREPARATION WILL BE NEEDED IN ORDER TO MEET THE FINANCIAL AID DEADLINE OF MARCH 1, 2013.
To be considered for financial assistance for the 2013/14 school year, submission of all financial aid documents from all custodial, non-custodial and step-parents (including uploaded 2012 Federal Tax Returns, all supporting schedules and forms, and W-2’s) MUST BE COMPLETED NO LATER THAN MARCH 1, 2013. Financial aid is reviewed annually requiring all recipients of past aid awards to re-apply for the 2013/14 school year.
ü Complete Parents Financial Statement (PFS) online at sss.nais.org. The Howard School school code is 4020. This process can begin anytime after November 1, 2012, but must be completed by March 1, 2013. The application fee of $39 is payable online.
ü Upload your 2012 Federal Tax Return (including all schedules) and W-2 forms. If you prefer to mail your documents, send one copy (not the original) of each document with a Required Documents Cover Sheet to: SSS by NAIS, P.O. Box 449, Randolph, MA 02368-0449. The fee for submitting a paper form is $51. Mail in advance so paperwork is received by the SSS prior to March 1, 2013. Please do not send any tax information to The Howard School.

ü The Howard School reserves the right to request additional financial information from financial aid applicants at any time.
It is the responsibility of the parent(s) to track the financial aid application from start to finish. Unfortunately, parents who fail to provide the required information, do not follow the guidelines, or miss the March 1, 2013 deadline may not be considered for assistance.
