When a student struggles in math, there is usually much more involved than just missing math concepts. Join us to develop an understanding of the developmental and neuro-cognitive processes that impact math, learn specific strategies to teach critical mathematical concepts, and apply the course content to your own units of instruction.

Recent advances in neuroscience challenge many of our conceptions about teaching and learning. This workshop will give an overview of brain architecture and function relevant to educators, and will discuss the implications of current research in neuroscience for memory, attention, language, literacy, math, social relations, the arts and other domains of cognitive functioning. Participants will apply the course content directly to the units they will be teaching in the fall.
